I own a 1992 F-150 regular cab that I bought new. For about the last 4 or 5 years I have had a problem with water leaking in and collecting in the cab corners when it rains. I have even seen water run out of the speaker grills behind the seat. I talked with the dealer and they never heard tell of this type of leak. So they say! I suspect that water is comming in around the factory sliding rear window and I had an auto glass company look at it and they feel that the rear window is properly installed and should not leak.
Has anyone had a similer problem and did you solve it? I might try having the rear window removed and re-installed to see if that helps but.....
Thanks
Trevor
If you have the high mount brake light or cargo light , check its seal for leaks . Have someone run a hose over that area & see if the water enters the cab .
Wifes Aerostar had a leak at the top right of the windshield--a bad leak. Took to a glass place and they re-sealed the windshield--still leaked. Ended up it was a body seam leak. Took it to the dealer who sent it out. Has never leaked again in six years and 55,000 miles.
I have a '89 F-250 with a leaky cab. I isolated it down to the bad cab seam above the drip rail at the back of the cab. It looks like I need to grind it out and reseal it to fix it.
I have the same problem. I have mounted antennas in the cab corners, using 3/4" mounts and just assumed that was it. Sealed them several times and it still leaks. Never had that problem before with other models. Now it makes me wonder if it really is the truck. My passenger side seat belt is soaked most of the time from water. Never noticed it when the truck was new, only after several years. Didn't appear right after the winshield was replaced so I guess I need to look at a seam on top of the cab.
I had a similar problem with a Ford Ranger a few years back and I also wonder If my 93 F150 leaks too as I have rust in the rocker panel behind the passengers door as do many Ford that I have seen. The way I found the leak in the Ranger was to shut all windows and doors with the heater fan on full and then use soapy water around the windows and seams . I found the leak to bee on the gutter near the front on the drivers side. I scored the leak out with an awl and sealed it with RTV silicon and no more problem.
Cost only $60 to fix the body seam leak on the Aerostar. Obviously they did not grind it out, seal it, and repaint. So there must be an easier way. At first I was trying Goop, but not finding the right spot.
