I will do my best. I put Marvel Mystery Oil down all the cylinders and let it sit for a day. We then hooked it up to a truck and got the motor to free up. Next step will be to get a 6 volt battery and put fuel to it and see what happens!
I got the motor freed up atfer a soak with Marvel Mystery Oil. Next I had to free up the water pumps and generator. Now onto replacing the bad points. Reinstalled the plugs that came in it after hitting them with a wire wheel. Oh and the battery was toast...of course. Once all that was done and it had been cranked around to get oil back up into the motor we cleaned out the float bowels and put fresh gas to it. With a little cranking and some help from some starter fluid it happened. AFTER 50 YEARS IN A BARN THE FLATHEAD RUNS. Now hit the start button and it fires right up. It even sounds AWSOME! Now to make it move and stop!

The way I see it, that truck is going to be too much stress and headache for you to handle. You need to sell it to me and save yourself all the problems associated with it............lol
Thank you for the concern about my ever growing stress level! I am deeply touched but.....IT MINE!....ALL MINE!! And yes the motor runs great. Thinking that I will be doing some of the safety upgrades and will rock the flathead for a bit at least. It is a 3 on the tree with Overdrive. Planning on changing out the rear end for a 9inch then doing 4 wheel disc brake conversion. Also thinking about going with the 400 series power steering conversion. ?
I've always wanted a flathead since I was young and my dad had two. They are what I learned how to drive on before my feet could hardly touch the pedals. He had a '50 ford F1 with factory 3 in the floor, and a '51 ford 2 door sedan with three on the tree and overdrive. Both V8s.
If I had yours, I would do a good cleaning, redo any interior issues you may have, redo all the brakes and any steering components that needed replacing, and drive it like it is. As they say, the're only original once. You have a great find there. I noticed the overdrive script on the grill. That is a pretty rare truck.
I am planning to do a power steering mod but use the stock steering wheel and straight axel, change out the rear end for a 9 inch that I had under the 53 in my profile pic before it got wrecked. Do a 4 wheel disc brake conversion and convert it over to 12volt but rewire the gen. I am going to run the flat head for a while at least but I have a 289 with a C6 waiting. After I drive it for a while I will do a full resto on it and get the body and paint done the. This is it in a nut shell.
