I have a 64 F600 with 8.25 x 20 tires on it. 4 of the 6 are worn out. I called a local tire shop that specializes in heavy truck tires and was quoted at about $200 a piece for new tires in either 9.00 or 8.25. Plus they will mount them on my split rims for $20 each. (This place is our local farm tire supplier. Split rims don't even phase them). I know from doing research that they have given me a reasonable quote on tire price.
However, searching craigslist I found a guy selling 4 like new Goodyear 8.25 x 20 wheels and tires for $200 obo. They are mounted on 6 lug rims. I haven't called him yet, but from the picture of them mounted on the truck I can just see the back of the cab and it appears to be a 70's Chevy 2 ton grain truck. Does anyone know if the rims are compatible between the Ford and Chevy? I know the F600 is hubcentric, but I haven't been able to find out too much information regarding the Chevy and compatibility.
No. Your hub piloted 6 x 8.75” pattern truck is unique to Ford F-600s built in 1963 and 1964. The Chevies and GMCs of the 1960s/1970s are listed as having the Budd type stud piloted Dual Cap Nut (DNC) system. It’s the 10 lug x 8.75” pattern Chevy/GMCs that were hub piloted. Stu
