I am going to get the gauges in, wiring harness in and exhaust done so I can hear it run in the truck and not hear in on the dyno machine video. Also hook up the emergency brake some how and I will be happy
My Christmas present to myself was to get the truck done, and on the road on Dec 23rd, after two + years of work. It's ready to drive regularly, and of course fix stuff as I go. This year the objective is to drive it at least once a week - maybe drive it to work occasionally just because i can.
I have three car shows here around Vancouver I'd like to take it too. It won't be the prettiest, but it'll be the best I've got.
Also, one "big trip" over the summer to Vancouver Island - I'd like my family there to get to see it.
Rip and replace the wiring. I've got a new wiring harness, new turn signal switch, new electric wiper, and a new radio I want to install. I've got to get this done, since I've already started
I'm also taking a hard look at my hood. The dents and the rust really need to be addressed.
It is an undeniable truth that project vehicles are never finished - some are just done for now.
And that is the truth DW. But right now I'm with EffieTrucker . . . I just want to get the truck street legal, safe and reliable. I'll have to resist letting you guys lead me astray when I see some great new idea that one of you have done like the ones in the recent Supercharginng thread.
Ross, is this a new problem or an ongoing issue?
Post a thread when you dig into it....I'm interested to see what you find.
Sort of both new and old... I had this clutch in, and it chattered a little. I put in a diaphragm PP, totally went away. But the diaphragm was for a Car, and the fingers were hitting the release bearing hub, so I put the old PP (long type, 3-finger) back in, with the same disc. Instantly many times worse chatter. I am 99% sure it's the fingers aren't all evenly adjusted. Will keep you posted.
Which is a massive list since I'm swapping out the powertrain and brake system. Once that's done I'll drive it for a bit till I gather all the axle, suspension and steering parts. Then I'll swap those out.

A weak pressure plate is a common cause of clutch chatter. The '48 and earlier Fords were notorious for clutch chatter, especially in reverse. My Dad told me that in the '50s he would send the pressure plates down to Philly to be rebuilt and they would install heavier springs. It would eliminate the clutch chatter.

I hope to have my truck on the road this year. I would love to make the southeast truckstock and then head to Penna to visit family and the Penna truckstock. We will see.

Sounds like a great plan! I hope you can make it. Where in PA is your family?
Sounds like you have some Pennsylvania Dutch in you. I went to school in Ephrata and lived near Lititz.
Lots of good German names in my PA family, Kopenhaver, Detwiler, Funk, Kolb, Zollers, March, Markley and my last name Poley, Bohlich in German. I have a cousin in Ephrata and another pastored a church in Lititz a few years ago.
