452 code

'94 F150
I bought my third 94 F150 and after a few days the OD off light flashes. I have not noticed any shifting problems. I have not seen speedometer act up.
452 code.
I held in PSOM reset button and turned key to run, then got full needle sweep and odometer displayed E086, then pushed button again and got the tire size cal. Does this mean the PSOM and ABS module are good?
Should I replace the VSS?
I don't have any electronic testing experience or equipment.

I would pull the VSS and wipe it off. If there was junk stuck to the VSS you might have a problem in the rear end. Then put it back in as the VSS very seldom goes bad but you can get a bad replacement.
Also check the plug and wires to the VSS.

You may also have a bad Speed Control Module or wiring to it and to the PCM.
Try unplugging the Speed Control Module.

subford,
Pulled VSS, it just had a little heavy oil on. I took one with same Ford # on it from my other truck and put that in. OD light still flashes.
Disconnected Speed/Cruise Control Module under hood, next to left hinge That is the one you suggested, right?
Thank you for suggesting this, I would never have got this advise from anywhere else.
I did not notice any problem with wires or connector, but it is zero degrees out so I wanted to keep moving I left it disconnected and went for a ride and had no flashing OD light.
I don't need cruise control. Should I leave module disconnected? Would being disconnected have any bearing on what tranny is told?

Yes it is.

That is up to you but I would think about replacing it with one from a salvage yard.

No it would not.
It would be the same as a truck that came from the factory with no Speed Control.

subford Bill,

Thanks for sharing your expertise. I am feeling much better about this truck after your help and I got to work out a few other kinks today. It got up to about 15 degrees outside before I came in for supper and now I'm thawing out.
