Timing Question
85 E350 W/ 460 DSII dist.
Am getting terrible knocking & pinging when engine is hot, at freeway speeds, when I kick it down.
Checked timing w/ vac hose disconnected and it is within spec at 8. When I put the vac hose back on timing is at 29 at idle. Is this correct/normal?
Thinking that my timing is too advanced causing the knock.

Timing Question
It sounds like your vacuum hose for the vacuum advance diaphram is hooked to a full vacuum port.
It should be on a part throttle vacuum port. Or something that is above the throttle plates on the carburetor.
Your full advance is coming in too quick.
