So long as it is CK-4 rated by API, and rated by Ford for the 6.7 diesel, your pretty safe. Either Motorcraft semisynthetic, or full synthetic, or any of the rated API full synthetics would be ya our best bets. There is a topic on the Ford spec for these oils, be sure yours is on there.

Many are saying don't change the oil until 5000 miles, atleast before going to synthetic. A little controversy on this topic so you can read up and make decisions on your truck from there.

Whichever oil you select, make certain it's listed among Ford's approved diesel engine oils ...
https://www.fcsdchemicalsandlubrican...ry=Motor%20Oil

I sent that link versus the PDF link because the list is updated occasionally.

PBE 5W40 as well. I bought 11 3-gallon cases from Amazon when it was cheaper. Amazon prices fluctuate a lot. Look for $20-21 / gallon.

Rotella T6 5W-40
Walmart 2.5gl for $53 (but there was also a rebate of I think $15 per 2.5gl bottle).

so unlike diesel fuel or DEF, oil has a long shelf life?

I use Mobil 1 5W40 Full Synthetic meeting the CJ4 standard. No complaints so far. I switched to it at 10,000 miles. I used motorcraft oil for the first 5000 mile change.
