I have towed 11,300 trailer with Bobcat no problem with 6.2,3.73.2011 and up work truck is easy to find if you are comfortable with 150k miles. XLT and above are harder to find.

I'm on my second 6.2L the first was a 2011 F250 Lariat CCSB with 4.30..
I replaced what looked like the original battery last spring and did a brake job around the same time...No issues with anything on the truck.
Current ride is a 2015 F350 Lariat with 3.73's, its been good so far....I have no reason to think this truck will give me any troubles..

I've owned several F150's w/5.4 and a F250 w/5.4, IMO the 6.2 is a huge step up and a solid motor..

good luck !

I agree and I have also own an F150 w/ the 5.4 and two 5.4 F250's an 08 and a 06 but sold my 06 ) The 5.4 F250 are fine and will tow, wont win any races and the heavier you get well it isnt easy but can be done.

I believe the 6.2 was created to solve two issues, to give the 5.4 super duty owners a real incentive to upgrade for those who want more power towing and to take the owners of the 6.8 v10 some place to move to once there trucks started to be in need of replacement.

It also was a great option for the guy who need the ability to tow heavier like a 6.7 but didn't need a diesel, all in all I think the 6.2 and the 6.7 engines have done a lot for Fords rep, and there are definitely both classes of owners who love their respective engine trucks.

My trucks aren't babied they work, but I also make sure I maintain them, but they have been dead on workhorses and have yet to leave me by the side of the road.

You will like the 6.2 not many major issues with them for their owners. And yes they will tow and are good for short commuting

Very impressive!!

Well my Dad told me when I got my first vehicle, " never seen a truck die from maintenance, but seen plenty die from no maintenance" And that always stuck with me

The time to really look is around October. Reason being is the Fleets are flipping their trucks for tax purposes/depreciation.
I picked up a '15 6.2 XL Std cab LB with 4.3, MSOS, ELD, and had the snow plow and heavy spring packages with a little over 50K on the clock...it was a farm services vehicle and had a binder with "cradle to grave" documentation on maintenance and anything else done to the truck while in fleet service...

I have used it to tow my cattle hauler with about 10K pounds of beef to the sale barns anywhere for 20 to 100 miles, and a flat bed with at least that much of rolled hay...only time I noticed I was pulling a trailer was on the hills...
I'm not a high production rancher, so justifying a diesel was hard. Plus I'm more comfortable with a gasser.
In my area it is a close 50/50 between diesels and gassers. The big production ranchers will go with diesels. The smaller guys like me (running less than 200 head) will go with gas.

It's all about the maintenance. I've always been of the mindset that if the manufacturer wants a certain oil or filter, that's what it gets-even if the filter is a few dollars more.
I can't say for one minute I was sorry for getting this rig.

I had been shopping for a 150 EB 3.5 heavy duty to pull my new travel trailer, and all of a sudden mine popped up. 6.2, 4x4 long bed, took the trailer out for a test drive last week and felt very comfortable. Every car lot around here is loaded with pickups and this was the first I found that was all set up to pull or carry rv's. My new neighbors all have 3/4 or 1 ton trucks and rave about the 6.2 as being a bulit proof setup, so feel very lucky.

Good luck with finding one, they seem to go quick.

I love my 2012 XL standard cab 6.2 it does everything I need it to and more. I don't tow heavy everyday but it's made several trips up and down the east coast from Florida to NJ without issue. Each time we weighed the loaded trailer and it was over 10,000 lbs and the truck handled it without skipping a beat, I knew the trailer was back there, as I should, but never an issue.

I'm still looking. It appears the hard part is going to be finding an XLT or a lariat with 6.2L. Most of the higher end trucks all have diesels.

To be quite hones, I have started to look at a few diesels, but the 6.4L horror stories still scare me. I don't think I could buy one of those. The 6.7L isnt completely out of the question though.

I still prefer a 6.2L extended cab 4x4 with an XLT or higher package, but the search has been pretty grim. Found one in NC with 101k, that would have been the one I bought but they sold the day before I called.

FWIW, about two years ago I was truck shopping. I wanted a loaded crew cab with the 6.2L. I didn't want just any truck. It had to be relatively low mileage, not gray or solid white, no cab lights, and not overpriced. I searched for about a month on Autotrader. Anything within a day's drive was fair game. I finally narrowed down to five trucks that ticked all the boxes and had my wife help me choose one to pursue. I made a tentative deal ahead of time and drove 400 miles to buy the truck. The truck wasn't misrepresented so I wound up the deal and drove the truck home. All dealing was done through e-mail and text, so I would have a record when they tried to hoodwink me, and they did. Long story short, if you're looking for an oddball (extended cab even odder than mine), you're going to have to branch out to get it. It's highly unlikely that it's going to be sitting on someone's lot in your area.

I realize that I probably won't find this one locally. I'm willing to go as far as even get on a plane and fly somewhere to get it. I've got a couple of buddies who flew to texas to get their trucks and basically stole them when they got there.

I'm still looking. Nothing has to be done right this second. I technically have until the temp hits about 80 degrees to have something bought (boat will need to be mobile on land by then).

I'm going to wait it out and find the right truck. I did stroll into my local ford place. I personally know one of the salesmen. I told him what I was looking for and was told that they definitely could find it. Haven't heard anything back from them yet, but who knows, they may find the needle in the haystack. Highly doubtful though.
