Hi, I am interested in getting some information on the removal and replacement procedures on my F350 Dually Crew Cab 7.3L PSD and a few other questions. I have seen before on here, (but can't seem to find it) a post with a step by step tear down process of the top of the 7.3l PSD. I was hoping to find that post or if anyone knows of another quick location for the info that would be great.
Also, I have read to do pressure checks on things prior to just tearing it apart. I believe I have a Bad Gasket, which is causing Ex Gas to migrate into the cooling system and causing the coolant to back out the overflow bottle/tank. I've done all the normal things, radiator, water pump, thermostat, checked for air bubble etc. etc.
I do not have coolant in the oil, nor do i have fuel in the coolant tank. I would be interested in knowing all of the possible pressure tests I can do prior to pulling the heads?
The other thing/s were: what's the best gaskets to buy in your opinion?
Do the gaskets come thicker(more durable) from one seller/brand to the next? I understand the head bolts should be replaced at the same time. I'm wondering (just for my own knowledge) why they need to be replaced?
As always any help is greatly appreciated. Have a great Day!
Thanks C J
I am currently going through the exact same troubleshooting process as you, same symptoms. Have you ruled your injector cups out yet? They are much more likely to be the issue than the head gasket.
Rent a coolant pressure tester and adapter kit from Oreilley's, pull the injectors, and pressurize the coolant system up. After you do that, listen for hissing or look for bubbles.
Hi Jarrett, thanks for getting back to me. I have not had a chance to get things pulled apart yet. With the holidays and kids coming back from college, I have not had a chance to get to my project. I'm hoping to soon. Have you determined what was the actual cause of your problem, or still working on it? I will check with Checker on the tool rental and be sure to try the test you recommended. I will get back here, as soon as, I get things ripped apart with my findings. Thanks much, have a great day.

I haven't been able to touch my truck at all in the last two weeks, between travel and it being colder than Hoth outside.
Yes that was a Star Wars reference. I'm a nerd.
Where are you located? I know that Autozone, oreilley's, and advance have the coolant pressure tester for rent. If you're in Canada, I don't know where you could get the tester kit. Amazon has it if you want to buy it I guess..
Hi Jarrett, I'm in Colorado, I have am going to talk to Checker and auto zone today. So, that when I do get it apart I'm ready to go.Thanks for the help.
