Yes! I was kidding, I assumed a suggestion like that would be rejected out of hand. I apologize.

I only thought of it 'cause when I was in school, even handling the components with bare hands was verboten. The small amount of skin oil might make a difference, no matter how small.

"If he did not have the drums turned down that may be the cause. You might also want to double check to see if the brake shoes are in the correct spot. I believe the primary or shorter shoe is the towards the front." (zieg 96, earlier).
This remains a possibility. The requested picture might help.

Man, that's funny! I've been turning wrenches for more than 20 and I haven't heard that one yet.

Unfortunately, he's right. If it squeaks, Joe Poolguy is likely to squirt a little WD 40 in it.

When I was a kid, I had a job doing the teardowns for brake jobs. On more than one occasion, Joe Poolguy had been there before me and actually GREASED the drums. What a mess! Of course, the wheel bearings were fried too. Made us lots of money in parts and labor.

I would say that that is unbelievable but I have seen other mechanics do some pretty strange things too.

Maybe its a bent rim, loose axle shafts, bad wheel bearings, bad tire, tire out of balance, bad shocks and etc, it could be anything but you have to keep looking until you find the problem.

I had the EXACT same problem and took it to a machine shop and had the drums turned and now it's just as smooth as ever.
