That's not how it's supposed to look?

Just kidding, that is nasty.

Just check the bearing preload and keep it full of gear oil.

That seal was on my 96 SRW, not my 97 dually and yes the hub came off the spindle easy. Thanks for this info, I appreciate it! Good luck with your sled pulling, give em he!!

Was it Nik or someone else on here put a temp probe on the rear? I wonder if that would be beneficial?

I prefer to get my temperature taken under my tongue, but that's just me.

I bought this with a drain plug and ordered a isspro rear axle temp gauge. I'm curious to see the temps! Sorry Clay, I can't see $319 for your rear cover.

I didn't know that Adam. This one was fleebay $77 to my door, when I looked at them all over the web I couldn't believe the prices. Come to think of it, there was one on fleebay that they said OEM for $55 or so, I bet that's the one you mean. I liked the cooling fins on this one I got, if they do any good I don't know. I'm looking forward to seeing what temps I'll run.

Adam,

The '08+ covers don't have a drain plug though, do they?

Glenn,

I got a cover just like that for my Ex, and I had to file out some of the holes for it to fit.

I can see what you mean Red. I have a gasket and it didn't look like the holes lined up real good.
