Pinion Nut Torque Spec

Pinion Nut Torque Spec
I've got a 2000 F350 DRW Dana 80 with a leaking pinion seal. I already have the new seal and plan on putting it in this weekend. My question is what is the torque spec for the pinion nut. I've never changed a pinion seal before without the rest of the differential apart. The only specs I have for a Dana 80 are for what the bearing preload should be. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you are equipped with unusually heavy duty tools I think you might find the pinion nut on a Dana 80 too tight to even remove. I have seen extremely experianced Ford techs have extreme difficulty getting those apart. We even had to have someone come from a tire shop with a large (1" drive or bigger) impact wrench to remove the nut. I have 26 years experience in a Ford dealership shop and I would take that pinion seal job to a shop equipped to do it.

440-500 lbs ft and I wouldn't tackle it bring it somewhere where they know what they are doing..I have a four foot torque wrench that goes to 500 but thats one hell of a grunt and you have to hold the flange while doing this. The truck has to be six feet up to do this..
