I purchased a 1973 F350 Super Camper Special (long wheels base). I want new wheels with meaty tires. It is a 2 WD truck. I wanted to do a staggered wheel size. I was thinking maybe a 20" x 7 in the fron and 20" x 10" in the back? What kind of aftermarket wheels should I get? Maybe a old school thrust wheel? Ideas anyone? Budget is not that big of a deal. I am trying to keep a Old school look so nothing new matte or black out wheels. Definitely trying to keep it a 70' - 90's type wheel look.
Straight truck, no rust. Needs wheels, loose the bed cover and wash/wax. It was owned by an old guy who took good care of her.
A couple of places to start... Summit has a good wheel selection. use the search function with your bolt pattern (8 x 6.5). Also Tire Rack for tires. The "specs" option on Tire Rack will provide wheel width range for any particular tire.
And a question... what do you want to do with the truck? That can drive tire/wheel selection.
I just bought the truck via the internet and the seller has already deleted the ad, thus the pics are gone. Trust me, this was the best picture of the bunch. While older fellas are notorious for taking good care of their truck, they are NOT good picture takers! It took me 3 days to get what I got, blurry and out of focus.
I was thinking some Old School Thrust type wheels chrome lip and gun metal gray centers. My question is how thick of a lip can I get to give the wheel a nice deep look to it. Also, to stagger or not to stagger. This truck will be used primarily for fun, I have multiple work trucks.
Wheel Vintiques has steel wheels you could get in a 16x7 in front for a 265/75r16 and a 16x8 for a 295/75r16. That would give you a look similar to how these pickups were set up. Have the wheels powder coated the color of your choice. Then use the dog dish hubcaps. Another option is chrome lug nuts, a chrome center cap, and chrome beauty rings. I was going to do this on mine but have decided to sell it instead.
