Hi, I just swapped a new engine into my truck and during the second drive it ceased up on me. It is a 1969 289 with 302 heads on it which tells me it was rebuilt in the past. I had everything tuned well except I didn't have the oil pressure gauge hooked up. I wasn't worried because it ran so good and didn't burn anything. I ran penzoil 5w-30 in it with 91 octane non-ethonal gas and once driving I heard the engine "squeak" like a bad wheel barring and it died and hasn't turned over since. I took off the valve cover to find a rocker arm slipped off the valve spring and after tearing it down to the short block I haven't found any problems but it still won't crank over. Everything is clean and looked well oiled. Idk what could have happened any help is really appreciated thank you.
I had a 351m rebuilt twice in two weeks......... The first time during the, break-in a valve head snapped off the stem and smashed between the plug and the piston, and cracked the cylinder wall........ I got nice and wet when I pulled the drain pan plug.......... I keep the dented spark plug on my tool chest as a reminder.
