Front Axle/ Spindle issues
I have a 1990 f250 that I have had for 9 years now and I am quite familiar with everything on these trucks. However my 4wd hub gear stripped out the other day and I cannot figure out why. I just serviced the front u- joints and everything else but when the driver side spindle tightens down the axle will not center in the spindle. This causes the axle shaft to pin the hub gear and sometimes not allow it to return to the free position. When the spindle is tight I have No play in the axle and I have replaced the spindle bearings twice in a vain effort to fix this POS Dana 50. I did have a loose wheel issue for a while till I figured out the lug nut holes had ovaled out. Could I have bent or worn the bearing surfaces on the spindle? The axle rotates without a wobble inside the spindle, but I'm not ruling anything out. Any input much appreciated, Thanks Jonathan.
