1979 Heater Box

Hi, I have a 1979 F-250 pickup. When I run the defrost I don't get much air up to the windsheild. After checking out the problem, I discovered that there is a 3/4 inch gap between the air defrost duct and the heater box. I assume there should be a seal in there, but I don't see one listed in my shop manuals. I also don't see how the defrost duct attaches to the heater box. Thanks Gary

Could it just have come loose? Maybe a little shrinkage over the years?

Do you hace AC or is your truck heat only?

I don't have AC just heat. I can't pull the two together. I looked at two other 79's one had a gap, and one was tight together.

it has a foam spacer about 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick that is cut to the shape of the top of the heater box and glue to either the duct or heater box the duct work hangs from 4 screws inside the duct at the dash
