Hello everyone, I’m from the 70s forum but just got a new project that brings me to you. She’s a 64 F600 grain truck. Pto, dump bed, all the fun stuff. Driven to its current spot 8 years ago then left. Engine is free so I’m going this weekend to try to get some life back in her. I know nothing about 60s fords, though I’m sure there isn’t much difference in the 70s.
What engines came in these? He said it would haul 300 bushels of corn with no problem (15,000lbs). I looked at it but didn’t get much into the engine. It’s a manual with a selector(?) switch on shifter, but I didn’t see how many gears
Yeah, I’m gonna run a new line into gas can to get it home, then figure out what I want to do. I have a couple 70s rear tanks and a bronco 40 gallon,, maybe one will fit
As for being a lot of work, here’s my other girl before and after:
Looks to be a 5sp with 2sp rear.
I don't know if you split every gear going up/down (I think so) or run thru 5 gears the pull button for high range and run thru the gears again (don't think so).
Is there a shifting plate on the dash or sun visor?
Last time I drove one was back in 1983 and you split going up 1 lo> 1 hi> 2 lo> 2 hi>... to 4th lo> 5th lo> 4th hi> 5 hi
