I'm trying to lose some weight.
I've lost a bit, but I always pick it back up
Im banning fast food and Sodas.
I only drink 1 or 2 sodas a day... When Im at work.
None at home... But those 1 or 2 are gone now.
ANy ideas on good ways to lose weight?
Im 6'2 and 267 lbs.
About this time last year I was 235 and I looked a lot better.
I want to get down to 200, and Id like to do it in a moderate amount of time, instead of a pound or 2 here and there.
A few pounds a week would be nice... but I dont want to go a month and only lose 1 or 2 lbs
Any ideas on what to do, what to eat, what pills/medicines you can use?
Also... I have this bad habit of eating.
I used to not have it a long time ago... But I feel "hungrY" and eat a lot.... And I dont want that.
I dont eat a whole lot at a time, but I snack throughout the day instead of eating 3 square...
I usually eat a biscuit in the mornings and lunch and a snack or 3 during the day...

I know several people who are doing the "Atkins" diet. I don't know alot about it but it does involve cutting down on carbohydrates. You might pick up the book because it gives you the details and a lot of recipes.
Dude, get the Atkins book. It explains the science behind it very well. I've seen the results of a couple guys at work, and now I've started it. You'll be surprised at what you can eat. Just takes a little will power.
The guys at work each lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. Safely. Check it out.
How much does this book cost?
Im in a financial bind at the moment...
And that's one reason Im trying to loose some weight... Lack of Funds 2 buy food. lol
Less than $12 for the New Atkins Revolution - I bought it in December, after Christmas, and I am 99lbs lighter than when I started. I did the Atkins until June, when I added a few things, to make life more interesting - I have gone from a 65 inch waist to a 38 inch waist since January 1st 2003.
Find the thread called Bubba Shrimp's weightloss challange and post your starting weight in there, and keep checking back in.. I will be posting in there as soon as the 100lb mark is reached, and stays overnight..
Loosing weight will give you a life you have not experienced for a long time - It is great, I can run and do, I exercise regularly and eat only the very best foods I can find, and as I said it is great, I feel good, and you will too.
If you need encouragement in any dieting email me, and I will give you all the help I can.
Congrats Theo.
I have read that post before.
As for the diet... Sure I want to loose weight
but I dont want to totally give up eating "good" foods forever yanno... So Id like a diet that doesnt consist of "crap food" as its been named before.
I don't really have time to exercise as I should, but I proboally walk 10 miles a day at work.
I will check out this book when I get the money, and hope it works.
To suggest that the Atkins diet eats crap food suggests only that you have no clue what the diet is all about. Before passing judgement on it, get the book, and see what you are missing. I can guarantee that you are in for a good surprise - I eat fish, any kind, meat any kind, whole grain bread that I bake myself, fruit, veggies, I have buckwheat cereal for breakfast, with bacon, egg and cheese, I have never eaten so good. I gave up the crap food, educated myself, and my family, and am a totally different person now, I have not yet stopped shrinking, and I feel great, eat great and will do so for the rest of my life.
On this 'diet' I eat what I want to eat, in as large an amount as I want. It took me about a month to be comfortable with less food - In my first month I ate steak everyday, and my blood pressure went down, my blood chemistry improved and I lost weight.
I started the Atkins Diet about 10 days ago- lost only 5-6 pounds so far, but I feel GREAT! This is the first diet I've stuck with for more than 2-3 days. I think the best part about the Atkins is that it's a diet, a way of eating, for LIFE. Once you get off the carbs for a week or so, you really don't miss them. If you were like me, eating TONS of junk (candy bars, donuts, muffins, cake, pies, etc...), then the first few days are TOUGH. The withdrawal is just brutal; you feel your body going through all kinds of changes. I almost stopped, but you gotta hang in there for about a week. Get through that first week, and you'll wonder why you waited so long to start eating RIGHT! You'll have more energy while eating less food, and you're eating less because your hunger is less, NOT because you're starving yourself. I don't have a lot of weight to lose (20 lbs. max), but I can see and feel the difference already. Again, the only diet that has both worked for me, and the only one I can stick with. Good luck, man.
I wasn't implying that the diet was one of the crap ones
I'll check it out.
My mom said she knows a lady that has the book, so I may be getting it free :P
