7 pin trailer plug question...

I finally got the tie downs installed on my 2017 SD and I put the camper on the truck for the first time today...what a mess !!! I plugged in the power cord for the lights and everything is wired wrong ...when I turn on the left blinker all 14 marker lights flash on and off ...when I turn on the parking lights I get electrical feed through the prong that would feed the battery on the camper...it's a brand new camper that worked fine on my 2011 SD ...I even backed up my old truck to it to check to make sure everything was ok on the camper and it worked like it should...are these new trucks not wired with the standard 7 pin setup ?

My 7 pin is wired correctly. Sounds like there might be a mixup with yours.

*Edit By correctly I mean it works the same as my older trucks.

7 way plugs

Both the truck bed and bumper plugs worked fine on mine.

Went to my friendly Ford dealer with the camper on the truck...they took it right in at 7:30 ...I wanted to show them exactly what it was doing ...took a few hours but they found some of the pins where out of order on the plug...the tech said he never saw this in 23 years...all fixed now ! The trip is back on !

Did the tech say what was *Out of Order”?

After all my years pulling trailers, etc; and seeing the way lighting reacts when not being properly grounded, I would lay long odds that was the problem.

I agree .....the tech explained in detail what he checked and fixed and the service manager wrote it up accordingly.
The tech also brought me out to the truck to go over the procedure to get the battery charge circuit to come on by stepping once on the brake...I already knew about that process from posts I read here on that subject even before I took delivery of the truck.... it was a good experience all around (the fix not the problem)
