Removing carpet

Hi,
I'd like to see what my options are for replacing carpet in my truck with vinyl flooring (regular or "premium") Is this as simple as purchasing the flooring as a single piece and swapping it out or is it more involved than that? I know the seats and trim would have to come out. Still seems like a Saturday job to me unless the dash has to come out or something. Anyone do this? Thanks

I would think so. That is all that was involved when I did it years ago on a Chevy I had.

You may need to disable the air bags when the seats come out. Remove the fuse for the air bags.

Ford will give you a $50 credit for ordering Carpet Delete. I know this only helps potential buyers, not existing owners.

Yep, and I would have ordered mine that way, had I ordered it...

I wanted vinyl flooring in my truck until I went to the lot and looked at them. Both regular vinyl and premium vinyl looked and felt wrong. Maybe I was expecting "vinyl of old"... tight fitting and thick, neither was something I would want. Got the carpet and OEM mats. Best choice for me.

Have the carpet delete in my truck and it’s great.

Yes, I drove another King Ranch with the premium vinyl and wanted that,..but few and far between with the options I wanted. I really liked the premium Vinyl over the carpet.

I've never seen premium vinyl up close. Just pictures. I like the regular vinyl fine, but you'd want mats over that or it seems you'd wear it through. It's not like the tire rubber flooring I've seen in some trucks.

I guess the Husky mats wouldn’t suffice? They fit really well and have very good coverage. I thought about ordering the carpet delete but went this route instead. No complaints so far and it’s easier than taking the seats out :-)

I got lucky... the truck i wanted to buy wasn’t even on the lot yet, but had platinum + ultimate, upfitters & vinyl floors. Done!

It was great on sunday when I was changing out of snowboard gear in the backseats to sweatpants after a serious powder/blizzard snowboard session. I was soaked and snow went everywhere... next day everything was nice and dry!

I have the premium vinyl. I don't believe the flooring itself is any nicer than the "standard" you'd find in an XL. What you are paying the $150 for is the nice extra set of thick floor mats.

You get 2 sets of mats with the premium vinyl. King Ranch and up only.

Right, on the KR and Platinum, the "premium vinyl" gets you the mats, which is why it's an extra cost option.
