Greetings all. I had to remove my GPS to release compression and I noticed most Of the tips were fouled with soot which made them difficult to remove. I want to take a drill bit and clean the hole deep in the head leading to the swirl chamber in case some of this problem is debris on the walls of the head. Does anyone know the size diameter or drill bit required to use. Thanks for reading.
Thanks TJC T. My glow plugs are several years old and I just felt the resistance of removing them due to soot was too great and possibly necessitating servicing them every two years. That's why I thought maybe there's just a bunch of leftover soot that needs cleaning out.
Well it looks like a 7/32 drill bit will clean the Schmutz from the hole but it's just a tad too small. Most of the glow plugs were difficult to push in and out due to the fouling, but once I cleaned the hole it's smooth sailing and should ease removal in the future.
