Just had the heater core replaced on my 1993 Aerostar3.0 .The problem is if the air is on wether it be from vent or A/C and it's on cool. I'm getting hot air blowing out from the floorboard near the right front passenger side. I think that's where the heater core is??? any help would be great on what the problem might be.
This sounds familiar and distressing. I would venture a guess that replacement core used was "universal" style core. Although inexpensive, these are slightly smaller than the OEM core and can shift around within the plenum box. The shifting core can push the blend door slightly open allowing heat to escape from the nearest vent, the floor vent.
I used one of these cores recently and experienced the same problem you described. I repaired the old core, replaced it and the problem went away. Unfortunately, either the repair failed or a new leak developed and I will be replacing that one also.
When the cold air is on the hot air is not coming out of the floor vent, more like the heater core. (thats located on the inside front passenger right?) Hate to sound like a dummy but not really a tech head. Have a appointment with walts that put it in. What kinda of questions should I be asking? So i'm a little more knowledgable when i go in.
