Which battery for winch

I remember hearing that I should hook my winch to the battery that is hooked to the alternator. Any disagreeements? I plan to wire up a warn power interrupt kit to the battery then run the switch to the upfitter switch’s.

For a diesel, passenger battery is best, closest to the alternator cable, and most the electronics of the truck run off the drivers side so you have two batteries between which protect the electronics from alternators and the winch motor draws. Hopefully you have the upgraded or the dual HD alternators to keep them batteries charged up well.
