Trans oil leak?

I thought it was a oil leak but further troubleshooting it is trans oil.
There is trans oil droplets on the back oil pan bolts.
Seems to be coming from top of bell housing area.
Has anyone else seen this with there 6.7
Any ideas?

I have it scheduled to go in to the dealership next week.
The truck is a 2017 with 10,000 miles
Just looking for ideas before it goes into the dealership.
Ohh by the way I really like this truck
Thanks

possible over filled trans? Otherwise it is probably a bad seal around the torgue converter.

I don’t think it was overfilled I checked when I first got the truck it and was fine.
I have not towed anything with the truck yet.
Is there a vent that the fluid could of came from?
The seal you mentioned would that be a main shaft seal or another seal?
I’m just trying to gain knowledge.
So when they do find where the leak is from I will know what there talking about
Thanks for the reply

There is always some kind of pressure relief on top of the trans. Based upon no towing I doubt that is where any of the fluid would have come from.

A seal where the torque converter sits on the output shaft is where I would start looking.

All of this should be covered under warranty.

Went in yesterday opoinment and they said they would have to pull the trans.
Not to keen on this so I held off making a appointment.
I told them I wanted to clean up the area and see if we/ I can see where it is coming from.
What has me puzzled is if it was a seal or something in the bell housing area it would be leaking from the bottom of the bell housing and it doesn’t appear to be coming from the bottom.
I hoping that I can get a better idea of where the leak is exactly coming from. Now that I have cleaned the whole area up with simple green.

I thought I had the same issue about a year ago, took it into dealer, tech. said needed to pull transmission to investigate further, output shaft seal, or torque converter leaking. Turned out to be a coolant leak, red in color oily feel. Was a leaking coolant line from the turbo. Common issue, and quick fix. Just something to look at.

Wow thanks for the info!!!!!!!!!
What year is your truck?
I have 2017 crawled on top and from underneath cannot see where the cooling lines go to the turbo.
Can hardly see the turbo.
Thanks will continue my investigation

I have a 2011 F250, and was very sure I had a transmission leak, even the first tech. at the dealer agreed. But they fixed the line, and all was well, only took about 3 hours. Been good for over a year now. If you do a search on 6.7s and leaking turbo coolant lines, you will see for the first few years anyway this was a fairly common problem.

I have looked at the videos on replacing cooling lines for turbo.
This makes more sense to me than a trans leak.
I will be monitoring my fluid levels trans and coolant very close.
ThankYou again for the info

I’m still monitoring it seems to be leaking less but still leaking.
Have not been able to get droplets on the oil pan bolts.
There seems to be leakage coming from above the oil filter area.
It has gotten really sloppy around here 12” of snow.
Thanks

It’s trans oil.
What has me confused is the leak is from the top of bell housing.
There is a droplet of trans oil on the oil pressure sending unit.
The sending unit is half way up the bell housing on the right side of 6.7engine.
What I don’t understand why is it leaking so far up the bell housing and not from the bottom of the bell housing if it was a seal.
I really don’t want them to pull the trans if it’s not needed.
Thanks for any input

You would rather the trans continue leaking than have certified mechanics pull the trans? It's not that difficult of a job. You already paid for the warranty, you might as well use it.

I have a appointment in a couple of weeks.
Just want to make sure the tranny needs to be pulled.
Has anyone else had a tranny leak on there 6.7 and what did they replace to stop the leak?
Thanks
