Just placed my order
Just wanted to say thanks for the information that helped me sort this order out. I've been on car enthusiast boards for a long time, but this is my first truck of any kind, and the forum here has been a really valuable place to learn.
I placed my order for an '18 250 6.7 CCSB FX4 Platinum in Magnetic over Dark Marsala. Decided to stay away from the new King Ranch interior and just went a little overboard... ultimately deciding that if I was going to get King Ranch deep into a 250, there wasn't a whole lot of reason not to check out a Platinum. The new interior color sold me on it. Had to see it on a 150, but from what I hear it'll be the same. I truly wish I had been able to order a Magma/Marsala, but no such luck, and I have to get this thing ordered.
Reading here and researching other places I decided that I'm going to get myself a set of take-off Lariat 18s with Magnetic accents and downsize from the 20s. It looks like for a new set of take-offs I can cover a lot of the cost of 2s set of 18s, one will most definitely have studded snow tires on it. The plan is to have the dealer install the 18s and snows when I take delivery. I also opted to order the bed just painted and I'm going to give my business to Line-X instead of doing the factory bed liner.
First planned mods are some tuff skin letters, a hood deflector, probably some window deflectors, the Line-X, and probably some ForScan stuff. I've always enjoyed the ability to get crazy with the VW/Audi scan tool VAGCOM, so I'm pretty happy that there's a similar tool for the Fords.
Questions: 1. does anyone know off the top of their head what size tire I'm looking for to swap the lariat 18s on to a platinum? 2. Does anyone have recommendations for studded snow tires. 3. I need to start educating myself on trailers and if anyone has good places for me to start, I'm all ears.
thanks,
-bill

275/70 R18 is the stock 18" all terrain tire size. Are you asking for that or what bigger size you can fit on the 18" wheel?
If I where getting a second set of dedicated tires for studs I'd look at the Cooper Discoverer ST MAXX size LT295/70R18 or maybe the Goodyear Duratrac. Either would make a decent mud/off road tire as well.
What kind of trailer? RV, 5th wheel or bumper? Flatbed? Enclosed? Horse?

Trailer: definitely enclosed. Ultimately, I hope to have a small race car, some spare tires/rims, and a tool set. I'd like to be able to use it for other basic enclosed towing, but mostly the interior will be optimized to hold the track-specific stuff.
Thanks,
