If you think that your truck only put on 800 miles per year for 55 years then that's what it is. But that would only be your thought. Everything wears from pedals to steering wheel. Now the engine also wears as we know. Is it the original engine??? (What motor is in it now?) If original, has it ever been rebuilt? Has the truck been in family since day one? There might be some scientific way to tell, but I don't know. I would say it has turned over at least once maybe twice.
Well it has the 292 motor, not sure if has been rebuilt or if it is the original motor
Only thing I can tell that was changed is the carburetor. Doesn't matter much
was more of a curiosity.
General WAGish nonsensical perhaps but based on some experience and prior references:
44,000 miles: Engine should run fine, but due to age, carb and electrics may be issues. Pretty much all wear or deteriorations or rust will be age related.
144,000 miles: Seat more worn, maybe broken down or replaced. Pedal covers severly worn or replaced. Pedal side to side slop starting to show. Floor board and/or mat worn or replaced or patched. Door handles and surrounding area show dirt, wear. Front of vehicle bears pits, worn paint etc due to exposure.
244,000 miles: Everything above is worse. Motor is a smoker or replaced.
It is very unusual to find a vehicle of that era with an unmolested motor at 144000, by 244000 it is almost certain to have required rebuild or replacement.
In that era, 100k was considered a miracle. Our '66 390 2v burned a valve at 41000 for example. It had 140k on it when sold. My dad did the heads at least one more time during those years. Buyer drove it 2000 miles and came back complaining that it oil fouled on one cylinder.......
