Indiana title transfer question...

I'm buying an old car from a guy in northern Indiana. He bought it from a guy in Alabama where they don't issue titles for cars older than 35 years. He told me on Friday that he went to the vehicle registration office that day to get an Indiana title for it and he paid an extra $20 to have the process expedited so he would have it back on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. Has anyone in Indiana ever done this or even heard of this procedure? He said it has to go to Indianapolis since that's the capital but is it possible for him to get the title in less than a week? It seems pretty hard to believe to me but I guess anything is possible these days with overnight shipping. Do any of you Indiana guys know if this is really possible? Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the link but it doesn't answer my question....

"Register a New Vehicle

If you have purchased a vehicle within the last 60 days and the title application has been submitted to the BMV, you may register your new vehicle online. If your vehicle was purchased more than 60 days ago, you need to visit a BMV branch."

Does anyone in Indiana know anything about paying a $20 fee to get a title for a vehicle new to Indiana sent within a week?

this page may answer your questions:
https://www.dmv.com/in/indiana/title-transfer
scroll down the page a bit and it gets into transferring ownership on used vehicles.

Thanks for posting this link. It says that there is a "speed title" service available for a $25 fee and that the new title will be delivered by FedEx....

$25 speed title fee. This optional fee is in addition to the $15 title application fee. Paying the optional speed title
fee ensures that the title is processed in a period of time that is substantially shorter than the normal processing
period.

not really sure how it works with you. years ago i bought a 64 falcon out of new yawk. they do the same thing, older than 1975 went by the registration and a bill of sale, not a title. New Jersey does not recognize the bill of sale and registration, they want a title.
i ended up going through How Our Services Work - Broadway Title Company when they used to be in Birmingham Alabama to get a title.
i think they moved to Maine because too many states refused to recognize their service as legal. i don't even know if the Maine service is legal here, because it has been so long since i tried to use them .

Neither am I but all I know is the guy got the title delivered by FedEx this afternoon. I couldn't believe it because he just took it to the motor vehicle office in Valparaiso on Friday, then it went to Indianapolis and back to Valparaiso. So after he contacted me with the good news I hustled over to the local U-Haul dealer a couple of miles away and rented a trailer from him. I'm going to take off about 6 AM tomorrow for the 275 mile drive up there to pick up my dream car-a 1970 Chevelle SS396 and yes, it's a real one as verified by the build sheet. It has less than 500 miles on a frame off restoration. I know a Chevy muscle car is about as far from Ford trucks as you can get but I'm going to post a pic of it here anyway. Thanks to all who responded to this thread....

nice ride.
a friend just inherited his brothers 69 396/375hp 4 speed chevelle with 96k original miles on it. it has been off the road and parked in the garage since 1979.
has antique plates on it, and was fired up once a month for 20 minutes to get the engine hot, and only driven 2 miles to the gas station and back around once every 6 months to fill the tank up. midnight blue metallic with black vinyl roof, and black interior. and factory stock one owner car, Al bought it brand new
