New project '53 F500!!!!!

Still a newbie here but got a membership years ago. Finally found me a great starter big truck. 215, 4 spd. Complete tune up and carb rebuild then lite the fire. Now for the brakes.

Welcome to the bigger model trucks. Your F500 looks real straight. Before the brakes, which will involve removing wheels, I'd suggest you do some homework about the wheels themselves. It's pretty clear from your picture that you have the "widow maker" type two piece wheels. The trade name for their outer rims is "Firestone RH-5°". Googling those quoted terms will help you understand their safety issues. Stu

Thanks

Stu, thanks for the reply. The truck is in really good shape. Been sitting under oak tress since 1993. I'm very happy with it. Thanks for the concern on the wheels. I plan on purchasing new ones from the link I found for wheels...wow on this site. I am very familiar with the dangers of the old ones and don't have any intention of messing with them. I'm hoping and old school ramp truck evolves from this truck.

I'd like to see one of these trucks built into a pick up.
Just a big version of the regular pickup.
