i have a 2000 f350 psd cc sb im getting ready to install a boost, pyro, and trans gauge on the pillar dose any one know of or have a link that shows step by step instructions for this install any help will be greatly appreciated thank you..all the gauges are auto meter sport comp
I just did the trany temp and a vacume guage set in a pillar pod. I used Autometer Z-series guages (ATM2640&ATM2610)Set in an ATM15315 pod. I made a wiring harness that could fit my application as the first step in doing the install.
A power feed taken off the fuse block from a "hot in run" circuit. You can use a test light or get the wiring diagram from a Haynes Manual. Use to power the guages.
A ground wire to the chassis. Use for return of both lighting and guage power
Then a wire to the headlight switch. On my van the wire was Lt. blue with a red stripe. This is the rheostat controlled lighting circuit. Use to power the guage lights.
Each of these I fitted with the connections needed to power the meters inside the pod. That way I had only two power wires, a ground, the trany sensor wire and the vacume line going to the pod from under the dash.
The trany sensor I mounted in the inspection port on the drivers side of the 4R100 trany. It is located just ahead of the gear selection switch.
I ran the sensor and vac lines through the firewall at the point where the hood release cable passes.
Go to this link and open the "Installation button" on the lower left side. You will require Acrobat Reader (free download) to open it. A pillar installation
I installed mine with the help of a friend in about an hour and a half. The hardest part was getting behind the dash to wire into the dimmer switch. see gallery link at left for a look.
Hour and a half wow!!!
Took me around 4.
Drill/Tap Exhaust manifold
Remove Turbo Pipe
Drill/Tap Turbo
Clean out Shavings From Turbo and Manifold
Reinstall Turbo Pipe
Install Trans Temp Sender
Run Wires
Paint Pillar
Drill and Mount Pillar
Locate Dash Lighting Wires
Hook Up Guages
You Sure only and Hour and a Half? Took me that long just to paint, drill and Tap. You must be good!
First I have the 6.0 so I mounted the pyro in the drivers side manifold did not remove I drilled it with the truck running. And it was very easy to get to. The boost line was spliced into an exsisting line and voltmeter was just a plug into fuse panel. I bought the pillar and gauges from porta diesel so I paid an extra 50 bucks , they painted it and mounted the gauges I just had to run the lines. And I'm a framer not a mechanic, it wasn't that bad.
I got gauges and pod from porta diesel for Christmas....No pictures or instructions.
I have many questions.
The pillar is black. Does anyone know where to get the paint to match my grey interior?
Best way to intall tranny temp sender?
Wife also got me 4" down tube...any tips before I tear into it?

I just made a post in the 6.0 forum on this topic. I don't want to repeat it here. I know there is a way to get you to that thread but I'm not smart enought to know how to do it.
