Hi I have a 92' - V6 - 183ci - 3.0l - 2WD - Ford Ranger and my truck has a bad missing problem. I recently opened the hood in complete darkness and noticed that my Ignition coil was sparking constantly on both outer sides. I just replaced the coil with a new one from NAPA and this is still ocurring. I also noticed about 2 spark plug wires are also arching to the chassis.
I will replace the wires tommorow. I was just wondering why the ignition coil is sparking constantly? I just figured this was very bad, and cant be right, am I wrong?
Interesting problem for sure. Cant say Ive ever heard of a coil doing that before, though I have heard of that happening with spark plug wires.
The general rule with high voltage is that it will go to ground through the least resistive path possible. Perhaps this definition can help explain your problem somehow. Good luck
