I'm planning on repainting my whole truck. It's the one in my signature. Before I start, I want to get the bed squared away. It's pretty rusty all over the surface. It was used as a farm truck for awhile before I have it. It was down in the phoenix valley so it's not rot, just surface. I was thinking of getting a sandblaster and blasting the rust and then priming it and then rhino lining. But I'm wondering if there is a better approach to this that I don't know about.
The color scheme i want to go with is the Black and silver style, with black on the top and bottom, and silver in the middle. I'm going to get different doors because I'm going to convert to power windows and door locks. I was going to do the work to convert mine, but I'm already behind where I wanted to be at this time, so I can paint the doors off the truck first if needed. I already have the complete wiring harness for the door locks and windows.
Not much on body work but wanted to ask, where is Bronco PSD? lol
Max just graduated bootcamp a few days ago and is at Vanderberg in California for his training school. I'm waiting to talk to him soon to find out when he is available so I can visit, and see if he wants his bronco driven out to him or not. He'll be living out of barracks so he probably won't be doing much work on vehicles for awhile.
You can sandblast sheet metal, but you just have to be careful with the pressure. The "higher" (not sure how high is high) is what heats up the metal and distorts it.
I have a super clean long bed and am 100+ miles north of you.
The reason I didn't explore that avenue is the amount of money somebody will charge for one in the shape I am looking for, it would cost more than for me to paint the entire truck. The outside of the bed really doesn't have too many issues, it's just the bottom of the inside it covered in surface rust. I would rather not hand sand it.

I just wouldn't think of the metal in a bed to be that thin. I'm not talking about spraying directly at one spot for a long length of time. I would be far back enough to test it, and then strafe until it looked alright, and can touch up by hand. I really didn't think of it being too thin so now I might have to look into that.
