I bought my first Ford last year, a 1989 F150 XLT Lariat 4wd std cab with the 302 V8 and automatic with OD. With normal acceleration, the tranny shifts smoothly through all ranges, but if I'm driving around town in 30-40 mph zones, it will shift into OD at around 30-35 mph, and rather roughly. It is also not a very smooth downshift out of OD. Is this typical behavior? Should it be shifting into OD at 30-35 when acceleration has stopped?
