Hey guys so I have a 292 and trying to find picture of how the carb linkage goes. It's out of 63 or 64 f100 going into 56 f100. Got it to fire up but can't keep the choke where it needs to be to time it. Also can the parts be bought at the auto parts store. Also have a couple other questions. Is there a way to pime the fuel pump, also is ok For Me to run straight water in the radiator till I get things ready to be driven.
You don't need the choke to time it. Warm it up enough that it doesn't need the choke and then check timing.
I'm not sure which parts you are talking about but there are still quite a lot of parts available through the parts stores you may drive by everyday. If you are talking about the linkage, then no, they probably will not be able to help.
You don't prime a fuel pump. You can add an electric pump to prime the carburetor. If only for the initial stages of getting the engine running, you can also use starting fluid or fill the carburetor manually, through vent tubes, via gravity feed through the fuel inlet, or removing the top of the carb and filling the bowls, where applicable.
It is ok to use water temporarily. Just don't let it sit and don't let it freeze.
Thanks for the info I will keep getting it to fire until it warms up and than time it.. u would happen to know a part number where I could get the lower hose from radiator to water pump. Kind of a good cuver to it and I don't think a flex hose will work
I don't know the number. They were still readily available from local parts stores for my truck, 1961, a couple years ago. I don't know if '56 will be the same, but worth a check at a local store or on their website.
