There are also strange cuts on the floor that I'm going to make correct. I wonder sometimes why certain things were done. If you look behind the shifter you will see 3 straight cuts. I don't see any reason for them.

Abe,

Looks like you have special feelings toward the ‘56 COE’s. I think you might need to start a relationship soon...

For those who just can’t get enough 40’s and 50’s COE’s, I created this Pinterest thread a couple years ago and now has almost 900 photos:

No, not really. Earlier I posted pics of 53, 54, and 55 COEs I had. They are cool looking trucks however. But I have no room in my stable for another truck, F series or C series.

tinman, where did you get the bed for your truck? I like the rounded corners.

I found it in a local junkyard on the back of a mid 50's Chevy truck. Doing some net searching I see this style bed used mostly on Chevy trucks....wondering if it was a dealer offered bed back then.
Don't know the mfg, there were no tags on it.
I like it because of the rounded corners and the ribbed edges. Plus it is really light weight.
I did have to cut it down in length and width tho...

Most likely an old Knapheide or Omaha. They supplied all the OEM's.

Wow a mobile slide! And a cool looking truck all in one! All these different pictures of these coes, makes me want to find an odd or different back end for my truck. The thing is finding the right one. Or where to find it.
