Ah, interesting. I actually feel a bit silly now that it didn't occur to me that the radio causing interference and you wanting to use a remote start should be mutually exclusive.
They keep it powered because Android. When doing shorter trips and errands, it comes on instantly vs having to boot each time. Also, the radio station presets sometimes disappear from mine when powered all the way down. Perhaps they have cured that issue in the later versions though

With the switched power to the ACC wire, the radio functions just like you've mentioned above. It will turn on within 2 seconds of the key turned in the ignition and be fully functional. If I disconnect the harness completely and remove all the power to the unit, it does lose the settings, radio stations etc. But, it does not forget the wi-fi, BT connections.
A Pioneer Android Auto unit and could not be more pleased with it. Just works very well and the android integration works great, the maps are easy to read and OK GOOGLE works as it should.
