Took my 2017 6.7CC in today because it started puddling coolant yesterday at just a bit over 13,000 miles. I called just now and the service manager said they traced it to the water pump. And of course, the pumps are on back order. He's trying to figure out how far down the list they are to let me know roughly how long it will be before I get it back. While it's there I'm having them look at the crunching/grinding audible in the steering column (in mid-travel, not the pressure valves at steering lock).
Anyone have or heard of a similar issue? Not sure what would cause the pump to fail this early on. Also, any advice on pursuing a rental/loaner vehicle considering I'm going to be without a vehicle for a while? My dealership doesn't normally provide loaners, and I don't think the warranty covers rentals. Guess I might be eating that cost.
That sucks man. With the pump on backorder, I'm wondering if they've had a run on these failures? That said, the 6.7L has been out for some time, not sure if the water pump has seen any revisions since originally launched back in the 2012 MY (I think).
Just took mine into service after finding a large puddle of coolant underneath. 2017 6.7L with 28k miles. Luckily it's covered under warranty, as I imagine they aren't easy to change.
