ok 6.2 has been starting weirdly. Usually starts up in 1 or 2 seconds. But sometimes after sitting couple hours it turns over several times(feels like forever) then starts up. Then runs roughly spitting and sputtering for a second?? Then runs perfect. Has anyone had this happen?? 2017 f250 6.2 gas 20,000 miles. No dash lights on
Cables were tight but there was a chemical on battery post. Something purple in color and kind of wet. I cleaned all that off. Started it 12 times it seem fine. I’ll know in the am after sitting all night.
Resurrecting am old thread but has anyone gotten a definitive resolution for the long starting issue with the 6.2? Mine has done it a couple more times now and it’s starting to get annoying....

ford still does this every now and then. 1 out of 10. But my tundra started doing it every morning then fine the rest of the day. So took it to the mechanic. They said the alcohol was to high in fuel. Reflashed the computer and its been fine for weeks now. I did switch gas stations. So I had the ford reset this week. Hope it fixes it too.
my 14 does this every once in a while been doing it since i picked it up last year.
ford dealer can not figure out what is wrong with it.
acts like a flooded carborated engine.
only way to start it when it acts up is to floor the gas pedal, then once it fires up hold it half pedal for around 30 seconds.
once it hits on all 8 it will be fine until it decides to not start again.
it can do it every time it cold starts for a week, then not happen for 3 months.
Mine still does it, 2017 250 with 30k. 1 out of 10 seems like what mine is as well. The worst seems to be starting it at lunchtime. twice ive had it not start only to crank it again to fire right up. Once it threw an engine code and I took it to the dealer who of course could not fine a thing wrong.
Pisses me off in a brand new truck you have to worry each time you start it if it will run... Pretty embarrassing as well.
It’s a bad fuel pump check valve. Apparently pressure bleeds off after shutting down a hot engine then it will do a long crank and/or rough start until it eventually smooths out and runs normally. Only happens after a completely warmed engine is shut down and left to sit a while before restarting. My 2017 CCSB 6.2 did the exact same thing as the OP. Fuel pump replaced under warranty, problem solved.
