How many diesel guys have made the switch?

I’m done with diesel, in pick ups anyway, I have a 17’ 350 that ordered on the last order day XL loaded for work with manual case, lockouts, high camera/ tailgate camera, upfitter switches, cruise, appearance pkg.box lights, tail gate assist,
(installed myself) ford part. Power upgrade, clearance lights, power mirrors/heated,camper/ plow pkg. 4.30 locking rear
love it,pulls good drives great good visibility. Newer diesels are way to expensive to maintain with all the emission standards on them now, DPF systems fail and expensive to fix. We bought a new Peter built a couple of years ago and it was in the shop all the time with regen issues, they couldn’t figure it out so my mechanic suggested wrapping the exhaust with heat wrap. That did it, the exhaust wasn’t maintaining temperature. That was a good lesson on new diesel power.

My last 3 F250's were diesels. I don't tow as far or as often now so swhitched to the 6.2. Diesel made me nervous. Any major repair would be very expensive. DEF problems were a concern, especially if contaminated and not covered by warranty.
Maintenance with the gas will be much less.
The price difference between gas and diesel right now offsets the mileage difference.
Haven't pulled the 5th wheel yet, but, it should do fine.

I've got a short, 9 mile daily commute. I do not think anyone's touched on this yet, but that, along potential unreal repair cost, is the reason I went gas this time. If you have short daily commutes, you are asking for issues. This is why deletes are so popular, but I'm not throwing away a warranty on a 19k engine.

Same for me! Short commutes and unloaded 80% of the time. The gas pulls 10k lbs with ease when I need it to. My diesel pulled a little better but the gas truck is a much more comfortable and dependable daily driver, but considering my loaded / unloaded ratio the gas was a no brainer for me. My diesel never had an opportunity to regin properly. The only way a diesel makes sense these days is if your towing more often than not.

A 2017 would be my recommendation.

I have a ~ 8 mile daily commute with my '12 6.7PSD all stock and no deletes. With 135k miles to date I've had the Nox sensor and two EGT sensors replaced to date. I no longer have a warranty and sleep well at night and this trucks performance and good fuel economy still put's a big on my face.
Great truck...

It's my 3.9 each way daily commute which is one of the factors leading me back to gas. It used to be a 9 mile each way commute, but also included 2-3 trips each week at about 115 miles each way in a single day, so my 7.3 was purely happy with that mileage. It still runs beautifully, aside from having worn poppets and o-rings on the injectors. I'm hoping to make the switch into a 2011-2012 6.2 KR by the end of next year.

Really the only justification for diesel is if consistently towing heavy working the truck. Diesel currently running around 50 cents/gal more than gas (in S TX) and maintenance considerably more. My oil changes cost $130 every time doing it myself. Etc...

Oh and you can add me to the list who made the switch...from gas to diesel.
