Low Voltage Issue
Details:
E99 7.3 F350
Batteries are 4 months old (maybe the bad alternator fired them?)
About a week ago my radio was flashing on and off rapidly, so i assumed the head unit was bad and ignored it. Two days later truck wouldnt start, wiggled the terminals a little bit (they were a tad lose), truck fired right up. Tightened the terminals and went on my way. Next day I was driving home from dinner and my voltage gauge, fuel gauge and temp gauge all stopped working, but speedo and tac worked fine. Tried restarting the truck to see if it would go away and wouldnt start, moved the terminals around but no luck had to be jumped. So i assumed it was the alternator. Just put a new alternator on and with the truck running the batteries are only showing 11.5 volts, i turn my lights on and the battery shoots down to 11.3. Right before i was about to give up the voltage shot up to mid 13's. Turned the truck off and it fired back up. Let the truck sit overnight and wouldnt start in the morning. So im guessing i have something drawing power with the truck off, maybe a ground or something?? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
as loose terminals will BURN... and not make a solid connection until cleaned...
then have the batteries charged.. and NOT by the truck charging system..
And thanks for the reply
