OBD II Scan Tool Question
I own a Ford F350 with Power Stroke Diesel engine, a VW New Beetle with 1.9 TDI Diesel engine and a Toyota Rav 4 for the Mrs. I am looking for an OBD II scan tool that will at least work on the Rav and the 350. (Looking through the service manual last night, I could find no mention of a data port or fault codes on the VW.)
Does anyone have any recommendations on which tool to get that might be compatible with these two vehicles? I have read of compatability problems with some tools. Secondly, where is the best place to look for these where I would be able to open them up and take a look at the manuals, etc. before laying down the cash?
The Auto Tap tool cost $200 - but you need a laptop. I boughgt one and it seems to work well! Since I am a backyard hack - it is hard to justify $2000. :-)
well i guess ur right i also work for the local dodge dealer and it really justifies me buying one. So if one of my buddies has a CEL come on 5 bucks and i will do anything i can witht the scanner
