The Next Project: F3-Flatbed 1949 . Pre Pictures

Now that I got my computer guru here ... I thought I would send some pics of our winter project. Trying to finish up a project we started a ... long .... time ... ago. I'm sending some pics of the flatbed we got up north. Out of 3 trucks we should have enough parts to make a nice truck. Hopefully the painting will come out alright. I noticed that the beams that hold up the flatbed are two piece. Was that factory? Or did someone make new ones? Thanks. I have more pictures of the flatbed if anyone needs more visuals.

From a fellow '49 F3-with-a-226 owner - it's looking good and have a blast doing it.

I chuckled a little when I saw you write that out of three trucks there should be enough to build one. That is the same approach I've taken.

Keep us posted on the progress!

226 fired up

We got the flathead six running last night. It has been as far as we remember 14 years since we put the engine together. Kinda got side tracked. We where afraid the rings wouldn't seal and it would smoke like heck. Looks like the rings are seating fine. Felt great to see it running after all these years. It took a little time to dial in the timing to get it to start. One question about the oil pressure. We are running 10/30 oil. At start up the oil pressure is 50 pounds after the engine warms up it runs around 30. Does that sound about right? The engine runs at a temp of around 165 -170. This six cylinder doesn't run as smooth as a flathead V-8. Maybe it needs a little more tweaking. All in all we are really happy with the results. Thank's again everyone for all the good advice.
