Its not charging at all, I pulled the alternator out and had advanced auto check it out. He said it was good, bought a new belt. Cleaned the plugs going into the alternator and reinstalled. Still not charging. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same thing except my alternator was bad, common problem with the Ford's with internal regulator but it also took out my fusible links. They are located by the firewall connecting from the alternator to the starter selenoid. Have you checked that yet?

Same kind of thing happened to my dad's 87 F-250. Hi sbattery wasn't charging so he replaced the alternator and it didn't fix it. So, we took it to the mechanic and he said the fusible link was shot. Instead of replacing them he put 2 30 amp inline fuses on it. Is that ok? Just wondering. Thanks.
I am not sure what the fusible links are rated to. I don't have my manual handy at the moment. I just went to NAPA and bought some new fusible links and spliced them in. One thing they recommended also is make sure you get a new connector for the alternator when you replace it. They told me that the connector can get loose and then short the regulator out in the alternator. That was about $15.00 for that. Another mechanic was in there and concurred with the salesman about the connector. I would think a fuse would work really well as long as you didn't put too big a fuse in it, then it wouldn't do the job it was meant to do, and that is protect your alternator. Find out what NAPA's fusible links are rated at and use that value fuse.
On my truck theres a fusebale link between the alernator and starter solinod and it was shot maybe this is your problem. If this is the case the alernator wont be putting any power back in to the electrical system.
