Much less pucker in something that long than a little jeep. I'd try it if it were closer to me.
Length can be an advantage until you start to get high centered and there is a reason there are 999 short wheel based rigs for every 1 crew cab pickup you'll see on the trail. And those pickups you do see are pretty much beat to snot.
Overhang is the other reason you don't see many full sized pickups unless they are wearing 40"+ tires.
I'll take a "little jeep" over a pickup in Moab any day of the week.
Now getting to Moab, that is where a nice late model pickup shines.
I'm going to Moab in a month. The F-350 will sit at the campground while the Polaris Ranger does the fun stuff. The truck is just too long and too big for me to be comfortable on anything but a Forest Service/BLM road.
EpicCowlick, thanks for the tip on that trail. I'll have to look it up.
Not a Superduty, but here's a quick video of the narrowness of Taylor Canyon. My Raptor is wider than my SD though. I hope to get back to moab and canyonlands soon.
Closed 12 years ago, private land. Worst part was not going up or down but the 12-point 180 degree turnaround for a Jeep at the top! Can't even imagine doing that in a 350!
