Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but this PISSES ME OFF! i was next to a stereo-laden CR-V blasting (c)rap today...I clearly heard every curse word (about every third word) over a running PSD (E-450 shuttle bus) & the stereo. The noise (I don't want to dignify it by calling it "music") actually drowned out several passengers' phone conversations, & totally overpowered Garth's "Rodeo".
A CB radio and a big linear usually does the trick! With a 500 watt box and a 800 sweep i usually come thru those anoying little thumpers radios. I get a big kick out of them looking at their stereos wondering whos telling them to turn it down.
I have a tweaked RCI2950 and a Texas Star 500 that sweeps a little over 800 watts off a 102" whip. I must admit it does'nt always work but when it does it's hilarious. True story i actually caused a kid to pull out all his stereo stuff speakers and all and replace with new(over a grands worth) only to find out i could still brodcast over his stereo.
i drive a BIG rolling boombox. beackseat of my extended cab is gone and in its place is a 250 pount mdf box housing 4 12 compvr's ported. theres 1500 watts running to these speakers, so yes they are VERY loud. along with 300 watts running to my highs. my truck sits pretty high (7 inches of lift) so people cant yell at me because all they see is a door. i can be heard half a mile away and will blow your hat off if your sitting in the truck. the bass is so intense that my roof flexes 3 inches on some bass thumps. my neighbors hate me, and since i live in a small town everybody knows who i am. bottom line is

I have a friend that does my CB work for me. I would check the shops and truck stops around your area and talk with some of the folks to see whos good.
I normally want no help from the govt. This is one area I would not mind some. Set a certain distance and if the cop can hear it, you get a ticket. It is bad enough at a stop light. On a residential street late at night, it just shows bad manners and a disregard for other people.
I dont consider my trucka rolling boom box but it does get pretty loud, i never turn it up all the way. And when i do play it load, its usaully zz top or some other classic rock band. And its never really so load that you could hear over a diesel, i consider it a resonablely load truck. I think it will be my exhaust that will let people now im there.
