New Member and thankful to have this forum as a resource

Good morning all,
My name is Jonathan and I am looking for my new truck. I have never owned a diesel vehicle, but that is obviously about to change. My current truck is a '03 Chevy Suburban Z71 4wd gasser and my lovely wife is of the opinion that it's time to get a different vehicle (and she is right).

I have done enough reading on different forums etc.. to know that I am looking for a 2015 or 2016 F-250 or F-350 Diesel 4 WD Crew Cab Single Rear Wheel
I hate to admit it, but, I am confused about the different Trim levels and options and descriptive terms, etc...
I also hate to admit it, but, I really want Air Conditioned/Ventilated seats! - Seems like this means I am shopping for Lariat's or higher?
As an example: I need help understanding why one 2016 F-350 Lariat Crew Cab with say 12K miles on it is priced say $2K different than a different 2016 F-350 Lariat Crew Cab with say 12K miles on it at the same dealership...It must have to do with additional or different options, but, I've got some homework to do to begin to understand how a truck with the same description (ie, both say 2016 f-350 lariat crew cab) has different options and different prices.
4.10 vs 3.73 vs 3.55? I need to sort this out.
What does Platinum mean? Is it a trim level like "lariat"? Is it a stand alone trim level, higher or lower than lariat? Or, is it in addition to, meaning, have I seen that there are Platinum Lariats as well as just plain old lariats?
How about Super Duty? What does this mean? Are all F-350's Super Duty's? How about F-250's? Are some Super Duty's and some not?
I know this forum is the right place to learn these things. I am always amazed at how generous forum members are, willing to share their knowledge and experience with people like me who have so very much to learn.
I am certain I will gain much more than I can possible give to this group, however, I look forward to being a valuable contributor to these forums in time.
Until then, thanks in advance for any help!

Welcome to the site.
I don't own a 250, or a 350, but I know going to the 2017 / 2018 Ford F250 site, you can answer all of your questions & it won't cost you a dime. Building a truck on line will show you all the different packages & what they cost. You will also learn about all the different trim levels.
