hello people. i'm a soldier serving in iraq right now saving up a lot of money. when i get home i want to drop my 2002 ranger edge 2wd. i wanted to know if it would be better to get air bags or drop springs. also if there were any drop kits out for the ranger. and last but not least i wanted to know if you drop a ranger can you fit 20'' rims and still be able to have something beside rubber band tires. thanks.

I would go with the springs. Im not sure but I think Fabtech makes a lowering kit for your ranger. Check them out on the web.
As to the tire question I don't know for sure but I imagine that rolling 4 dubs will not leave much room for rubber. Im sure whoever you buy the suspension kit from will be able to tell you exactly what hits and what fits. Keep your head down and your eyes and ears open. Thank god for hazard pay. Good Luck!
Not to send you somewhere else, as I'm sure someone here will have an answer if you give it a little time, but the The Ranger Station has a whole forum dedicated to dropping that you may want to check out. I don't know much about it myself.
First off - thanks for the job you and your buds are doing. I have lowered my '99 Ranger 3" by changing the springs and shocks. 3" will give you a lowered look and still allow you to haul things. The rear is a driveway job just replacing the springs and shocks. The front is also springs and shocks but requires an aleignment kit so I had a pro do mine. It is a personal choice but I want no part of air bags, compressors and switches for my truck. You can install taller rims and tires w/ smaller aspect ratios for a great look, but 20" is a bit much for a small truck. Check out my gallery to see what 3" looks like. Take care.

Drane i dont know answers to your questions just want to say i salute you my friend our prayers are with you God speed yall's return a former combat engineer
If you have an edge you have the 4x4 suspension. I cant imagine how you could replace torsion bars with lowering springs. So I think you will have to cough up $$$ to bag it. I'm thinking about $3000 to do it right if you have it professionally installed. If you do the labor yourself of course it would be cheaper.
and thank you everyone for the support on me and by buds being over hear... with all the bad media and stuff its nice to know that people still believe in us.
