so the mystery " what is it" allegid 352 in my 64 F250 which I know was swapped in May now be able to be identified. The P.O. or someone. Used a wooden gate bolt latch to the intake for a throttle return bracket. I just went to replace that wth somethiby new and found the engine tag sandwiched under it. Need a little help deciphering!! All of the 65+ code indexes I've found do not show numbers. In the 700 series. They skip right over them. Any help ?

very interesting. Thanks so much!!! Can I ask what source you found this in? What I'm really trying to find out is what the engine came out of. It's presently mated to an NP435. The odd thing is albeit a 65 Engine, according to tag anyway it has the oil fill in front of the manifold which from my research thus far - they only put on ford cars prior to 64. Perhaps early 60s.

1958/64 FE engines were only installed in cars, have rounded valve covers without holes for oil cap or smog valve (introduced 1961).
Have an engine oil fill tube at the right (passenger) front side. If the smog valve is present, it threads into a boss of the intake manifold just in front of the carb.
If the block was a 1958/64, the bolt pattern where the motor mounts (steel/rubber insulators) bolt on, has a different pattern than 1965/76 FE engines.
So my engine has a strange combination of all of the above. 65 and later valve covers with fill on the Dr. Side and vent to the carb on the passenger. Yet has the road draft tube and oil fill tube on the right front.

1965/67 with a road draft tube. It's located in the hole at the rear of the right (passenger side) valve cover where the smog valve would be with PCV
Photos will help greatly. If the PCV is @ the back of the intake, it indicates an early style intake (even though this early design was used on some HP/PI applications until 1967 I believe it was). The oil filler tube was also the source of fresh air for the early PCV (Open System).
Rocker cover design changed in 1965 (PCV incorporated in rocker covers).
Of course, assembly and design changes will vary by dates and LT can be different from PASS CAR.

I think what he is describing is a 1963/1964 FED PCV Car Install that was on the back of the intake previously used for a road draft tube. His doesn't sound as factory assembly.

In post #1, the OP posted a pic of the engine ID tag. Post #2, the tag decodes to a 352 from a 1965 F100/350.
What the heads, valve covers, intake manifold are from, I haven't a clue...as the OP hasn't posted any pics other than the engine tag.
All we know at this point, and we can't even be sure of that, is the intake came from a '65 352 - and that's only if someone didn't remove the engine tag and move it

If the intake was from a 65/ app (non HP/PI), it would not have the PCV provision on the rear of the intake (in fact it should have been cast over). He would have had to use the OEM rocker cover system as Bill illustrated (and that is road draft - could have been converted to PCV)).
