Ok I was wrong, just pulled the spring out of the middle hole and it was the regular spring... I’m guessing the flat head spring is in the holes at the other end?
Anyways here’s a picture of the three pieces I need
I am not sure since I haven't been in mine for some time now but I do not recall a pin that goes into any of the holes. As far as I remember they all go between the rails. The piece on the spring is what the rail rides on when in the hole. Not a pin. If I am off base maybe some pictures of what you have will clear this up. Sandy Just saw your post with pics. Let me go look in my parts and see if I have the pin you show.
This is the end of the 1-2 fork. The bottom hole in the picture is for the roll pin with the fork. The top hole is where the long piece in my last post sits. Only the 1-2 rail and 3-4 rail have this hole.
I have another cover from a 2000+ f150 that was given to me. I just took it apart and found the smaller pin that goes in the rail that you pictured. I honestly don't remember that part when I did mine. I can only hope they are still in my rails in the cover that is shifting like butter. There was only one in that cover that I saw, so I have one.
Just finished putting it back together and I can already feel a HUGE difference in the 1-2 rail. That ball and spring really make a difference. It has a springy feeling now and when I push it towards its neutral position it jumps right into it on its own. Before I had to work it back and forth.
Unfortunately that R1 cover was also missing that small long piece that sits in the rail but after reinstalling everything, I think that piece plays a very small role in helping the rail slide back and forth. It seems like the R1 cover only uses 1 of those pieces I was searching for. Plenty of springs and ***** though.
Also, I filed down the part of the 1-2 fork that rests on the 3-4 fork and tested it with one of the spare rails I now have, so it can move smoothly through it. A lot of reviews online for that fork mentioned they needed to do the same.
Good news I found a picture online describing my missing pin as the "interlocking pin". I'll attach it on here.
Bad news, very little has changed in 1-2 while driving. Which is now leading me to believe there is a piece of my old fork wedged somewhere in the gears... any ideas on what to do now???
That's as far as I have taken mine but You could be correct about the fork piece. Just trying to cover the bases, you did drain the fluid correct. Maybe pull the pan and see if you see something. The only other thing might be the shift kit as I don't know what you ended up doing with the washers etc. Did the new cover have the parts in it? Sorry I can't be of more help. Sandy Thanks for sharing the diagram.
Yea I changed out the fluid with ATF. Look at the drain plug lol
Pull what pan? I might drain it again and work the slider back and forth to see if anything’s sticking out. Or maybe it’ll eventually just be grounded into a new mountain of shavings on my drain plug?
Haven't opened it back up yet or driven it, does anyone on here have any ideas on this? Really just hoping a piece of the old fork is sticking out that can be grabbed with pliers. What are the chances of the piece being ground up without damaging anything? Sorry I don't know a ton about this stuff
Had a buddy's truck eat the forks really bad, worse than mine did. It took a few fill and drive and drains before it came out clean. He got lucky I think, maybe you can try the same
