New SYNC 3 Update Coming....

Hey guys, I apologize if most of you know about this already but I just read about this info today.

I was browsing on another Ford Forum website today and apparently SYNC 3 Version 3.0 is already out in an "Unofficial" capacity and some F150 owners have already downloaded it and so have some Fiesta owners.

This has " NOT " been announced or released by Ford yet so proceed with caution on the download.

Have a great evening.

What benefits are included with the update? IE what changes?
I believe I set my truck to auto update when it's connected to WiFi..

It won't make any difference what is in Sync 3, you have auto update on which means when its released you are going to get it with or without the knowledge of it has !

So because auto update is turned on, I should not be interested in what is part of the new version?

It is connecting through home WiFi in my case...
I just went out there and told it to scan for updates.. 30 minutes of watching it scan, I threw in the towel and turned off the key.

Even with auto updates, you’re not guaranteed it will update over wifi. I left mine on for months over the summer and it never grabbed the latest version. Did it manually a few weeks ago.

Sure hope the new version permits us to load custom background pictures. That and stability improvements are all I need.

So far all I saw were a couple of different screens but they really didn`t go into any details and that was on an F150 forum.

On the Fiesta forum, there were no pics but a couple of users said that all is working well after they downloaded the unofficial update via USB and they haven`t had any problems but they didn`t go into much detail about the changes.

Auto Update can be hit or miss which i`m sure many of you know and yes, when it becomes available, our systems should update automatically.

When 2.2 was finally released, downloading it to USB was a waste for me and I gave up after two weeks and four tries with two new USB sticks.

I finally just pulled my F150 into the garage so I had a better wi-fi signal and just like magic, it updated itself.

I forgot to mention that for Auto Updates to properly work, because one bar didn`t work for me, your SYNC screen must have at least two bars or more of wifi signal strength.

My F150 can`t fit in my garage so it sits in my driveway and on my SYNC screen, I have one signal strength bar all day long and it would not auto update for me until I pulled into the garage for a better wifi signal.

Just go into the settings on your Screen and turn auto update on.

It works via wifi in your home or not and no, it does not work via cellular data.

Just make sure you have a wifi signal on the screen before you turn your vehicle off and if any updates are available, the SYNC system "should" update on it`s own when any updates are available.

Hope this helps.

I agree onug.....

Custom backgrounds/splash screens would be awesome but i`m not going to hold my breath on that feature.

The MFT owners are lucky in that respect.

I just found the download links to the NAV & non NAV SYNC 3 3.0 update.

You can Goole Unofficial SYNC 3 3.0 Update and it`ll bring up a link to the focusrs.org website/forum and when you click on it, it`ll take you to the forum and both download links will be in the first posting.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.
I think I will wait for the update for my truck - with my luck, I'd brick my dashboard with something not meant for it..

You`re most welcome and i`m with you 100% on waiting for the official release from Ford.

Bricking a cell phone via jailbreaking is one thing, and i`ve never done that, but taking a chance on updating via an unofficial software release and bricking my truck is on an entirely different level and i`m too chicken s...to try. Lol

I waited over a year for the official 2.2 update in my 2016 so i`ll wait for the 3.0 update and hopefully it won`t take as long to be officially released.
