Thumbs down no overdrive
I have a 86 bronco II that the runs great up until I get to 3rd gear then will not go into OD. I can floor it it will kick in but it will slip out again. I took it to tranmission shop and they to rebuild it for 1200 to 1800 dollars. I really do not want to buy a used one at a salvage yard. I was hoping someone out there in Ford land can help by giving me hints on what else I can else check.

Have you checked the linkage on both ends? And is your fluid level where it should be?

No I have not checked the linked on it. But I checked the fluid and it is okay.
